The Missanabie Cree First Nation is the first First Nations group to work with Toronto’s Housing Now to provide this sort of housing.
Aug. 5, 2022
Toronto Mayor John Tory and Chief Jason Gauthier from the Missanabie Cree First Nation have announced the Missanabie Cree First Nation as the development partner for new housing at 140 Merton Street, by the Davisville subway station.
The project comes as part of the HousingTO 2020 to 2030 Action Plan, of which Indigenous-led housing projects are a key part, Mayor John Tory said in a recent news release.
“Providing a safe, respectful and holistic environment for our Nation’s members is a foundational part of who we are as Missanabie Cree First Nation,” said Gauthier, in the news release.
