Inquest into the Death of Alexander George Announced

Dr. David Cameron, Regional Supervising Coroner for North East Region, Sudbury Office, today announced that an inquest will be held into the death of Alexander George.
Mr. Alexander George, age 33, died on Sept. 14, 2013, from injuries received during the course of his employment at a construction site in Wikwemikong, Ontario. An inquest is mandatory under the Coroners Act.
The inquest will examine the events surrounding Mr. George’s death. The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing similar deaths.
The inquest is expected to last two days and to hear from approximately eight witnesses.
The inquest will begin at 9 a.m. on Monday, June 1, 2015, at the South Bay Community Centre, 1102 South Bay Rd., Wikwemikong First Nation. Dr. Shelagh McRae will preside as inquest coroner and Jeremy Schaffer will be counsel to the coroner.
