After his two-day stint on the NATO circuit ended on an unexpectedly dramatic note after a hot mic captured his candid comments on US President Donald Trump’s penchant for ad hoc press conferences, leading Trump to call him out for being “two-faced” during a pre-summit photo op, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is finally ready to unveil his government’s agenda for the upcoming parliamentary session via a mid-afternoon speech from the throne.

According to the Canadian Press, the speech — which, by tradition, is penned by the prime minister’s staff but delivered by Governor General Julie Payette — “will aim to set a collaborative tone” in an effort to secure the support of at least one of the two smaller opposition parties that could control the balance of power in the newly reconfigured House of Commons.
