Fleming College is inviting the community to take part in two special events this month that highlight Indigenous histories, cultures, and contributions. The events are part of the college’s celebration of National Indigenous Peoples Day and Indigenous History Month.

On June 19, Fleming’s Sutherland Campus in Peterborough will host Lacrosse – The Creator’s Game, a free, interactive event exploring the Indigenous origins and cultural significance of Canada’s national summer sport. Running from 10 am to 2 pm, the day will include insights from Canadian Lacrosse Hall of Famer Jim Calder and professional player and coach Justin Warner. Lunch will be provided, and no lacrosse experience is required.

The second event, Indigenously Infused, takes place on June 27 at the Haliburton School of Art + Design. From 11:30 am to 1:30 pm, attendees can learn about traditional Indigenous medicines and self-care practices. The session will include hands-on activities and a free strawberry drink, offered as a symbol of the heart and Indigenous teachings.
