‘Meaningful consultation’: Improvements to Burlington’s Sweetgrass Park include Indigenous ceremonial circle, contemplative area – Inside Halton

Almost three years after it was named, Sweetgrass Park will soon be enhanced with new elements including 23 sweetgrass plants and spaces for gathering and reflection.

The City Burlington is now seeking a contractor to implement plans for an Indigenous ceremonial circle with fire pit, and a contemplative area — where the sweetgrass will be planted.

In January 2022, the city officially changed the 565 Woodview Rd. park’s name from Ryerson Park to Sweetgrass Park, after several months of public consultation.
