— Canada ‘worst in G7’ on emissions cuts: A new report by Environment Commissioner Jerry DeMarco says that, since 2015, Canada has had the worst record of all G7 countries when it comes to greenhouse gas emission reductions. While the report chronicles government failure over the past three decades, it points several recent actions under Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s tenure that run counter to climate goals — namely, buying an oil pipeline and creating a pandemic relief plan for the oil and gas sector. “We can’t continue to go from failure to failure,” DeMarco said.

— Trudeau visits B.C. flood zone: Speaking of climate change, the prime minister will be visiting Victoria and Abbotsford in British Columbia today, as that province continues to pick up the pieces following devastating floods and landslides earlier this month. More intense weather systems are forecast to hit the province over the coming days. Public Safety Minister Mike Farnworth warned residents to be ready to evacuate on short notice.
