(Attawapiskat, ON) Since the declaration of emergency by the Attawapiskat First Nation, the Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service (NAPS) has and continues to respond to calls of emergency in addition to regular calls for service.

Mental Health calls for service are being addressed with appropriate police response in conjunction with medical services.

NAPS has deployed additional resources to the detachment by sending in additional officers, extending the 20 hour shifts to 24 hour shifts, meeting with community leaders to continue to determine our commitments, and provide our support.

Attawapiskat First Nation is located approximately 630 kilometres north of Timmins, Ontario.
