Psychotherapist says practice is getting increased requests for pro-bono therapy.
There is a growing need for more affordable mental health care in Hamilton, says a psychotherapist who is sounding the alarm after seeing more clients need cheaper or free services.
“We’ve had to offer a lot more pro-bono sessions than we have in the past,” said Maria Orrego, psychotherapist and clinical director at Restoration Mental Health Agency in Hamilton. “I’m noticing … how many more barriers there are to therapy.”
On a daily basis they are getting one or two requests for pro-bono services, she said.
