Nominations Are Now Being Accepted For the Very First National ‘Excellence in Health Leadership Award’

NOMINATIONS ARE NOW BEING ACCEPTED FOR THE VERY FIRST NATIONAL ‘EXCELLENCE IN HEALTH LEADERSHIP AWARD’.
Ottawa, ON, September 8, 2016 – In partnership with the Canadian Foundation for Healthcare Improvement (CFHI), the First Nations Health Managers Association (FNHMA) announces it’s very first Health Leadership Award. The ‘Excellence in Health Leadership Award’ is designed to recognize those who have exhibited a sincere and long-term commitment as well as leadership in First Nations health management in Canada.
The recipient of the award will be recognized during the FNHMA National Conference, on November 16th during the Convocation and Awards Ceremony.
This is your chance to recognize a leader from your organisation who has trail blazed outstanding achievements in First Nations health management.
Nominations must be submitted to FNHMA based on the award requirements.
Eligibility and Criteria: Nominees must be members of FNHMA in good standing at the time of nomination, and shall have:
- advanced health management capabilities in First Nation communities;
- demonstrated health leadership and health management expertise in their organization;
- evidence of modeling his/her own continuous learning and capacity development and supports continuous learning in his/her employees; and
- evidence of work and action dedicated to health system improvement and innovation which includes both health and mental health.

Reasons for the Nomination:
A one to two-page document outlining why the nominee is deserving of the award, how the nominee has satisfied the eligibility and criteria and the following information about the Nominee:
- Name
- Employer
- Position
- Address
- Telephone number
In your nomination, please include:
- Name and signature of two FNHMA members in good standing supporting the nomination. (Support from an employer can be used in lieu of an FNHMA member.)
- Name and contact information of person submitting the nomination form.
The winner will receive a complementary conference registration, a contribution to travel costs and invited to receive their ‘Excellence in Health Leadership Award’ at the FNHMA Annual Convocation and Awards Ceremony.
CFHI identifies proven innovations and accelerates their spread across Canada by supporting healthcare organizations to adapt, implement and measure improvements in patient care, population health and value-for-money. Indigenous Canadians access health and mental health services from multiple jurisdictions, and partnership between providers and leaders is essential for effective services. CFHI collaborates with provincial-territorial government departments, regional health authorities and Indigenous organizations and groups to support the development and spread of culturally appropriate and safe care for all Indigenous people in Canada. In the spirit of collaboration, CFHI honours and respects the key role of the FNHMA as a leader and professional organization for First Nations health system leadership. CFHI and FNHMA agree to work together to advance Indigenous health and leadership capacity, sharing interests in health system improvement for Indigenous.
