The half-hour devoted to reconciliation with Indigenous Canadians during the English-language debate among federal leaders was both warranted and gratifying.
Heartening, too, was the unanimity of those campaigning for the Sept. 20 election on the urgency of the issue.
“Over the past 150 years, Canada has failed in its relationship with Indigenous peoples,” said Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau.
“This is the biggest scar in the history of Canada,” agreed Conservative Erin O’Toole.
