Our Athletes from Mushkegowuk Aski – NAIG 2017
July 24, 2017- Mushkegowuk Council, Moose Factory, Ontario; Our Athletes from various First Nations of Mushkegowuk Aski are on their way home after competing in various sporting events at NAIG 2017 in Toronto and Hamilton, Ontario.
Some of the athletes have won a few medals in different levels in individual events and also team events.
Grand Chief Jonathan Solomon “congratulates all the athletes whether you may have or not won an event. The important thing is the experience that you may have felt and also making new friends or meeting old acquaintances. You have all made us proud and applaud each and every one of you”.
NAIG is the largest indigenous sporting event that is held every 4 years. It involves over 5,000 athletes from Canada and the United States and many volunteers that made the event a success. Toronto/Hamilton, Ontario was the host city for NAIG 2017.
Grand Chief Solomon also wishes to acknowledge the many sponsors from various organizations, parents and many others who supported our athletes.
“On behalf of the Grand Chief’s, Deputy Grand Chief’s office, Council of Chiefs, Staff of Mushkegowuk Council and citizens of Mushkegowuk Aski, we congratulate our athletes,” says Grand Chief Solomon.

Mushkegowuk Council is a regional organization that represents the collective interests of the Kashechewan, Fort Albany, Chapleau Cree, Missanabie Cree, Moose Cree, Taykwa Tagamou and Attawapiskat First Nations in northeastern Ontario.
