Eagleheart Drummers, Singers and Dancers performed

The Indigenous Peoples Day event at the Medicine Wheel Garden drew out a number of visitors despite the high temperatures over the weekend.

Held on June 25 at the Alder Street Community Centre, the day was full of plenty of fun, learning and celebration of Indigenous culture.

The family-friendly event saw an opportunity for children to craft their own talking sticks or get out of the sun to jump high in the bouncy castle. Teachings were held at the Medicine Wheel Garden by Elder Karen Vandenberg and New Legend (Oshki Aadizookaan), the Ojibwe horse, was there for visitors to learn about the Lac La Croix Indigenous pony and its history.
