Public Notice – Proposed Regulations Making the Canada-Nova Scotia Offshore Petroleum Board a Responsible Authority under the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act, 2012

Members of the public are invited to comment on the proposed regulations that would make the Canada–Nova Scotia Offshore Petroleum Board (the Nova Scotia Board) a responsible authority under the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act, 2012 (CEAA 2012).

Making the Nova Scotia Board the responsible authority for the projects it regulates is consistent with the objectives of the federal government’s plan for Responsible Resource Development by streamlining the regulatory process for offshore oil and gas projects and reducing duplication.

The proposed Federal Authority as a Responsible Authority for Designated Projects Regulations and the Regulatory Impact Analysis Statement (RIAS) are available in the Canada Gazette, Part I for a 30-day public comment period ending on July 27, 2015.
