Six Nations Polytechnic Ontario Budget 2015
Six Nations Polytechnic (SNP) is very pleased that Ontario’s commitment to preparing Aboriginal learners for greater post-secondary success and preparation for the labour market was reinforced in Building Ontario Up, Ontario Budget 2015.
Specifically, the budget states:
“…. An additional $5 million in funding through the Postsecondary Education Fund for Aboriginal Learners (PEFAL) to ensure that high-quality postsecondary education and training remain accessible to Aboriginal youth through the Province’s nine Aboriginal Institutes;…”
The additional support for Aboriginal Institutes of higher learning positions Six Nations Polytechnic and other Aboriginal Institutes to achieve even greater student success while continuing to work in partnership with Ontario’s colleges and universities.
“SNP graduates contribute significantly to the economic and social fabric of Ontario and beyond. With the historic commitments to Indigenous education in Building Ontario Up, SNP will have additional capacity to serve the needs of Indigenous learners, graduates and the broader community, for the benefit of all.”
Rebecca Jamieson, President & CEO Six Nations Polytechnic
Six Nations Polytechnic, a member of the Aboriginal Institutes Consortium, also welcomes the opportunity to collaborate in the development of a policy for Aboriginal Institutes in Ontario that recognizes the essential role of Aboriginal Institutes in the post-secondary landscape.
BACKGROUND

SNP’s “two-road” epistemology applies in teaching and research that serve the social, cultural and economic needs of our community and society. SNP is committed to the values of Ga’nigǫhi:yo:/Kanikoriio (Respect and the Good Mind) for the benefit of all who share this land.
