Rochon was awarded player of the game for one of her four games

Thirteen-year-old Miya Rochon did Wasauksing First Nation proud, representing the U15 girls Little Native Hockey League in the platinum division at the 2022 Canadian Tire World Female Hockey Festival held in Calgary.

“I was excited,” said Rochon. “I mean, to go and meet new girls from around the world and then come play as a team.”

The event is known as WickFest, after Olympian Hayley Wickenheiser partnered with Girls Hockey Calgary to bring young women together in the interest of hockey to promote empowerment and leadership skills on and off the ice from Nov. 24 to 27.
