The past weeks have been somber for many of us as more unmarked graves keep showing up at former residential schools. As a mother, I hold my children tight and cry for the mother’s whose children never came home. As an entrepreneur, I ask myself: How can I promote reconciliation?
Aboriginal businesses are changing the landscape of economic growth. According to Canadian Council for Aboriginal Business, in 2016, Indigenous people contributed well over $30 billion annually to Canada’s GDP.
The beauty of First Nation’s businesses is that they go beyond commercial gains. Being a First Nation’s entrepreneur is often a combination of culture, community and commerce. Most of them have a social impact that goes beyond just contributing to corporate wallets.
