Niagara Foundation acquires remaining Wilderness property in Niagara-on-the-Lake – St. Catharines Standard

The Wilderness is a two-hectare property of “significant historic, cultural, environmental and botanical importance” in Niagara.
After years of discussions, the Niagara Foundation has acquired the entire two-hectare property in downtown Niagara-on-the-Lake known as The Wilderness.
“This is the biggest project we have ever done,” foundation chair Lyle Hall said in an interview. “It’s a big responsibility.”
The property, at 407 King St. in Old Town, has “significant historic, cultural, environmental and botanical importance” within the Niagara area, said Hall. It still has first-growth Carolinian trees on site.
