Our most recent annual report was submitted to the Minister of Canadian Heritage on June 30, 2025, as required by the Broadcasting Act, and tabled by the Minister in the House of Commons on October 7, 2025.

Driven by our commitment to serve all Canadians, this year we redoubled our efforts on improving access to trusted news and verified information. By listening to the diverse needs of Canadians and drawing closer to communities, we continued to deliver relevant and trustworthy local coverage.

Our coverage of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games captivated and brought people together across the country. The Olympics reached 70% of Canadians1 and generated a record 24.3 million hours of digital viewership.2 Our Paralympic coverage also saw unprecedented success, engaging over 11 million Canadian viewers;3 broadcast viewing hours doubled compared to Tokyo 2020, and digital consumption increased by 153%.4

Between February 1 and 3, 2025, following the U.S. government’s announcement about tariffs on Canadian goods, CBC News Network was the most-watched English-language news network in the country, reaching 4.5 million Canadians.5 In the first week of February, Radio-Canada’s digital platforms drew 10.9 million visits, up one million from the previous week, and the Radio-Canada Info app had 2.9 million visits, almost double from the same period last year.6 These spikes in usage showed that, in times of crisis or uncertainty, Canadians rely on CBC/Radio-Canada for trustworthy news.

“As this annual report demonstrates, we have many strengths we can build on. We want to be a public broadcaster that brings Canadians together, showcases diverse perspectives and experiences, and is involved at the local level. It’s for this reason that we will continue to expand our digital presence as well as our presence in communities. These priorities will guide the future of CBC/Radio-Canada.”

– Marie-Philippe Bouchard, President and CEO, CBC/Radio-Canada
